Mock Orange a fragrant addition to the garden
If you purchase a “balled and burlapped” plant at a nursery, be sure to remove all the twine and wire from the root ball before planting your Mock Orange. Young Mock Orange shrubs are erect growers, but as they mature, they begin to arch and become pendulous. Older plants can be renewed by thinning out at the base or by cutting back the entire shrub close to the ground. The leaves, which are arranged in opposite pairs, are deep green and oval, with a point at the end. Mock Orange can be planted as a hedge or a single specimen and can be trimmed back after blooming to keep it compact.
