They were guests of horticulturist and garden writer Paul Williams, who played host to the six members of the Japanese branch of the Royal Horticultural Society at his home in Potter’s Lane,. During their two-day visit, the Japanese group visited Bob Brown’s Cotswold Garden Flowers at Badsey and The Plant Centre at Knowle Hill. A GROUP of keen amateur gardeners from Japan visited Darlingscott, near Shipston, last week to learn about the art of container planting. After finishing their course and receiving their certificates, the group visited the Chelsea Flower Show in London. Mr Williams, who visited Japan three years ago to give gardening demonstrations, said: “They created quite a stir round here. Mr Williams, who is currently learning Japanese at an evening class in Leamington, said he had few problems communicating with his guests, some of whom spoke a little English.
